Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's family moved to Louisiana in the age of 9. Decker then won a local talent competition for her rendition "I I'd like to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" by Patsy Montana. Decker had moved to Georgia at the age of reached the age of 15. She was writing her first songs and was paying regular visits to Nashville, making the rounds of record companies as well as music publishers, looking for an agreement. A representative of the label that was independent Big Yellow Dog Records heard her at 17 and started selling her music to other labels. Decker signed a deal to sign a deal with Island/Def Jam after Mercury Records' president David Massey passed her demos to L.A. Reid, head of Island/Def Jam. Jessie James, her moniker for the album she debuted with that title at the end of August, 2009 was a self-titled. Jessie James was reasonably successful and included Wanted an album track that made it to the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker was always a Country performer, but the album was released and promoted was designed for a pop audience. Decker was adamant with the label to get more control over her music following two previous singles failed. Her subsequent album, Boys in the Summer, was more country oriented. Decker's second album, announced in the form of Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records was shelved after Mercury noticed the weak performance of three of Decker's singles on country radio charts.
